Town Council Meetings
The Council meeting is held on the third Tuesday of every month, currently at the Tuxford Methodist Church Hall, Newcastle Street, at 7.30pm. The Council discusses and makes decisions on policy matters, significant items affecting the town, budget-setting, major items of expenditure, projects and receives reports from its two committees. There is a section at each meeting where the public can ask questions on any aspect of the Council’s business. The Council has set up two committees to support its work – a Planning Committee and a Finance and Services Committee.

Aspects of the townThe Planning Committee meets on the first Tuesday of every month, currently in the Town Council office at the Mine of Information, Market Place, at 7pm. There are five members plus the Council Chairman and Vice-Chairman. The current membership of the Committee can be seen in the Documents section of this website.

The role of the Planning Committee is to provide a Tuxford viewpoint on planning applications submitted to Bassetlaw District Council (BDC), to note planning decisions made by BDC and to consider any other planning-related matters. The full terms of reference of the Committee can be seen in the Documents section of this website.

The Finance and Services Committee meets on the second Tuesday of every month, currently at the Methodist Church Hall, Newcastle Street, at 7pm. There are seven members plus the Council Chairman and Vice-Chairman. The current membership of the Committee can be seen in the Documents section of this website. The main role of the Finance and Services Committee is to discuss and make decisions (or recommendations to Council) on any matter concerning the maintenance and improvement of the town, to monitor expenditure and authorise the spending of money. The full terms of reference of the Committee can be seen in the ‘Documents’ section of this website.

Members of the public are warmly welcomed at all the above meetings. Agendas for all meetings are published one week in advance on this website, in the notice board on the side of the butcher’s shop and in the window of the Mine of Information. Minutes for all meetings are published on this website or are available on request from the Town Council office.
